The Governor of Kano State His Excellency Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje OFR today visited the Everbright International Boluo Garbage Power Plant, Huizhou City, Guangdong province, China which is about 2hrs drive from Guangzhou the capital of the province.
The factory which uses waste (bola) to generate electricity provides dual solution to some of the world’s most challenging issues which are disposal of garbage without digrading the envronment and the provision of clean energy to preserve our envionrment.
The factory uses about 800 tonnes of garbage daily which doesn’t need sorting, then use it to generate energy (electricity) for general use in houses and factories alike. Kano currently disposes about 1700 tonnes of garbage daily.
The Everbright company is the 1st of its kind in the world and are only located in China but are now in talks with Dr Ganduje and they are interested in establishing their 1st factory outside China in Kano State worth over $250Million in a Public Private Partnership arrangement between the state government and the company.
Governor Ganduje has welcomed the proposal and has extended an invitation to the company to visit Kano and do a feasibility studies for the immediate commencement of the project.
The Governor was accompanied by the Hon Commissioner of Commerce and his colleague the Commissioner of Information, as well as the President of Kano State Chamber of Commerce, DG Kano Investment Promotion Agency KIPA, and others.
