The Executive Governor of Kano State His Excellency Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje OFR today launched an integrated rural development programme tagged KARKARA SALAMU ALAIKUM which is intended to provide rural areas with good road networks that will link the areas to Kano metropolitan.
Governor Ganduje today flagged off the programme with a 12KM road at Garun Mallam area in the outskirts of the state, at a cost of N160 Million from Garun Mallam – Kwiwa – Agalawa being executed by WRECA under the supervision of Rural Access and mobility Project Directorate RAMP. Other agencies that are involved in the KARKARA SALAMU ALAIKUM include KNUPDA and KARMA.
Under this programme, Governor Ganduje has approved the construction of 500KM roads across the 38 local governments, and currently 6 roads, 2 in each of the 3 senatorial districts of the state are being constructed. Part of the programme also included the construction of over 800 boreholes across the state which have been completed and the Governor is also expected to flag off additional 789 new boreholes tomorrow at Albasu local government.
