Based on reports of the outbreak of Cerebro-Spinal meningitis in parts of the country, Governor Mohammed Abubakar today held an emergency meeting with members of his cabinet reviewing proactive measures taken so far. The meeting which was held at Government House had critical stakeholders in attendance.
On measures taken, Gov. Abubakar was briefed on the use of N175m disbursed so far this year for immunization. The Governor’s team also intimated him on the aggressive vaccination drive carried out. It was noted that no life has been lost in the state, a status the Governor said must be maintained at all cost.
Governor Abubakar also mandated continuous surveillance and public awareness campaigns on the disease. He directed that all medical facilities in the state, especially the primary health centers to be on alert. He commended the state ministry of health for deploying health personnel to all LGAs in the state as a proactive measure.
Finally, Gov. Abubakar called on all critical stakeholders like the Min. of Health, Bauchi Primary Healthcare Agency Development Agency, Disease Control Agency and others to keep up the good work done so far. He urged for collaboration across board stressing that no life must be lost in the state to CSM.
